I know some of you are disappointed we aren’t open every day; even Friday, Saturday, Sunday is hard on this old lady.
Business has been great and I have wonderful help from Jane Wright, Derrick Vanderweide, Beth Willett, Chase, Brooke and others.
We have numerous very nice pumpkins for you to pick from, in the field and around the barn. We’re still picking on other farms, a great pumpkin year. The mums are bright and brilliant, plus Montack Daisies. And a big variety of flavors of Grandma Ding’s Fudge, too.
Looks like a real autumn weekend ahead. Hope to see you Friday, Saturday or Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Oh yes, we are out at Pumpkins Etc.!
We had a great opening weekend last week, even with the rain and the big Chiefs game! It’s so nice to see old friends and make new ones.
Customers are missing Bill. I am too.
Jane and family have been busy picking from the fields. We have a super crop this year. We also have sweet corn, watermelon, tomatoes, squash and potatoes.
Hope you’ll come visit us. We will be open again this weekend: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
These days at Pumpkins Etc. have been nearly perfect! Bright blue skies, cool breezes, warm sun.
It seems like kids never tire of climbing on hay bales and running through the maze. There’s the fun of tromping out in the pumpkin field, or just searching and searching for the perfect pumpkin. We have all sizes and colors, and plenty to choose from.
Lots of families couldn’t resist taking photos all around, turning these playful moments into memories. Kids loved playing with the kittens in the barn, or just holding them to feel them purr.
And we have local foods, and of course, Grandma Ding’s fudge. Yum!
We’re open Tuesday through Sunday. Hope you’ll come visit us soon!
We are happy to report that the barn is open and in full swing! Hope you will come visit us 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. We are closed on Monday.
We have pumpkins, gourds, squash, mums and all the other delights of the season. It’s always fun for kids to select their pumpkins, climb on hay bales, wander the barn. And, of course, we have fudge!
Hope you’ll come visit us soon! And thank you for all your support for Bill during his recovery. We appreciate it.
See you soon!
This summer has found us in a time of recovery. Bill had major heart surgery and the process of healing is slow and steady.
We are planning to open after the pumpkin harvest, as usual.
We will have our regular assortment of pumpkins, gourds, squash, bittersweet, mums and natural fall decorations. And Grandma Ding’s Fudge, of course!
We haven’t set an opening date yet. Please follow us on Facebook to stay in touch.
See you in the autumn!
Pumpkin Season Approaching!
We’re busy getting ready for fall. It’s been a challenging year with way too much rain in May and June. All planting was delayed almost a month. We did mud the seed in the ground, tractors are heavy, so mud is not our friend. Most pumpkins take 90 days to grow and mature. With more rain, the weeds got ahead of us. Pumpkins and weeds aren’t friends. More challenges. Other pumpkin growers in the area are in the same boat.
We’ll open a week later this year, Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. We’re open seven days a week through Halloween, closing at 6p..
We’ll find pumpkins someplace and hopefully by Oct., ours will be ready. Our U-Pick Gourd Patch is a favorite for customers, currently it looks bleak.
Come visit us for pumpkins, mums, winter squash, bittersweet, corn stalks, straw, Indian corn and Grandma Ding’s fudge! We’ll also have tomatoes, summer squash and cucumbers!
We love having pre-schools and other groups visit! Contact us for details — just $2 a student and everyone gets a pumpkin to take home with them. 816-858-5758 to reserve a date.
See you soon.
Bill and Kathy Wright
We are open daily, 10-6p, It’s been a challenging year growing pumpkins, as they were planted late due to June rain. So we are supplementing with pumpkins from other fields. We have lots of cooking pumpkins, decorate awhile, then EAT, also numerous squash, gourds, stalks, straw, and Grandma Ding’s Fudge. The regular flavors, plus Pumpkin Pie and Caramel Apple pie. Mazes are there, picnic area, free admission, come play and enjoy the country.
Numerous seed catalogues are spread out on the kitchen table, we’re comparing prices, shipping costs etc. We need to order before they run out. The mum order is finished and needs to be completed in Jan. to get the early order discount. We’re looking forward to 2013.
Isn’t it a gorgeous fall season?
It’s especially pretty here at Pumpkins Etc., where we have loads of wonderful pumpkins. All sizes. All shapes.
Plus decorative gourds, mums, fall decorations — and our favorite fudge from Grandma Ding.
Come visit !
Weatherwise, this was the mildest year ever, only a few cood days, no mud. Our combining is also finished. Barn cleaning is almost complete, then preparations for next year.
It’s always fun to see our customers that come year after year. New people found us too and assured us they will be back. They liked our relaxed atmosphere.
You can find us at Kansas City Rivermarket on Sat., Nov. 5th. Our truck is loaded with winter squash, cooking pumpkins, gourds, Bittersweet, Indian Corn and large dried gourds for crafting.
Grandma Ding is making fudge today for market on Sat., Pumpkin Pie Fudge with pecans, Caramel Apple Pie Fudge, plus the regulars, chocolate pecan, Black Walnut Peanut Butter/Choc and many more.
Thanks to all that came to see us, see you next year.
